Residents of Ibadan, mainly youths, in hundreds, trooped to the major areas in Ibadan to stage what is called a peaceful protest over the current economic hardship Nigerians are facing due to the removal of the fuel subsidy and other economic policies a few months ago.
The protest which started at the Mokola area of Ibadan, the state capital, witnessed a large turnout as youths registered their displeasure over the state of the economy with increases in food prices and other daily items.
To avoid any security issues and possible breakdown of law and order, security operatives were stationed at strategic places in the Ibadan metropolis, in the hours of Monday.
Protesters in large numbers were seen with placards with various inscriptions to show their displeasure, such as” End Hardship, Open Border”, ”We are hungry”,” End Food Scarcity” and lots more.
