The Progressive Support Organisation led by Com. Ibrahim Maruf has charged and urged the Elected National Assembly members from APC to rally support for the party’s candidates for senate presidency and speakership positions to foster unity, and progress in the party and country at large.
The quest for an excellent National Assembly begins with the elections of the Presiding Officers, this should be a concern to all Progressive-minded individuals, Members of the APC, Supporters, and all peace-loving Nigerians.
As underground horse trading is ongoing concerning who becomes the leaders of the Red and Green Chambers. We urge the legislators to shun the embers of discord and disunity being instigated by those who are bent on frustrating the incoming administration, we should avoid mistakes of the past. We should thoroughly adhere to the Party discipline and shun ugly developments that will precipitate unending conflicts of interest which may bring about untold implications on the quality of the legislation for the nation.
As the President-ELECT, His Excellency ASIWAJU BOLA AHMED TINUBU prepares to assume office, expectations are high and he needs the support of all Nigerians to deliver on the RENEWED HOPE Mandate. The next NASS Leadership should be those who have the combination of competence, experience, and capacity as dominant traits. those who will ensure a balance in the political and religious segments of the nation in other to formally douse the suspicions occasioned by the Muslim – Muslim ticket that produced the President-ELECT. We therefore enjoin all progressive-mindedness members to abide by the zoning arrangements of the APC for the National Assembly leadership positions as this will bring about total harmony and robust engagement between the legislature and the executive arm.
We trust and have absolute belief in the capacity of Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio to deliver as Senate President as well as the capacity of Senator Jubrin Barau as Deputy Senate President.
We also believe in the capacity of Hon. Abass Tajudeen and Hon. Ben Kalu as Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives respectively
We, therefore declare our total support for the candidates of our dear party and also urge every dissenting NASS member to desist from plunging the next NASS into any unforeseen leadership tussle.
We can’t afford to fail.
