Security has been on stand-by in strategic locations in the Osogbo capital of Osun State ahead of the judgment by the Osun Governorship Election Petition Tribunal billed for today.
Former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola is challenging the victory of Ademola Adeleke during the 2022 Osun gubernatorial election on July 16th, 2022, alleging infractions in 749 polling units and certificate forgery.
The observed heavy security presence in Osogbo capital of Osun as operatives of the police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps(NSCDC), Amotekun, and other security operative were deployed to popular junctions and political offices.
According to The Nation, Security operatives were sighted at Ola-Iya junction, Oke-Fia, Old-Garage, Lameko, and many others. Also, armed policemen were deployed to Oyetola and Adeleke’s campaign offices, including the secretariats of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) and All Progressives Congress(APC).
There was heavy security presence in front of the court as patrol van numbering about six were stationed at the entrance of the court as operatives checked and screened people entering the court premises. The sitting of the Tribunal commenced at exactly 9:10 am for judgment.
