Tomorrow, all roads will lead to Oloyo village, Akanran, headquarters of Ona-Ara local government as Ibadan Mogaji and the Otun Apesinola of Ibadan, Engr. Dotun Sanusi will host people to a victory party for Engr. ‘Seyi Makinde’s re-election as governor of Oyo State.
Scheduled to hold at Sanusi’s Ilaji Hotel and Sports Resort at 10 am, the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheikh AbdulGaniyu Agbotomokekere, and his council will lead other top Imams while the CAN chairman in the state will lead Christian Leaders to the event. The leadership of traditional groups in Ibadan and the entire state would also be in attendance.
Royal Fathers expected at the event include Otun Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief Tajudeen Ajibola, Olugbon of Orile Igbon, Onpetu Ijeruland, Okere of Sakiland as well as Ibadan Mogajis led by their president, Mogaji Asimiyu Ariori. Baale of Ibadanland, (Part 1 and 2) as well as other traditional rulers and chiefs are also expected.
Babaloja of Oyo State, Alhaji Yekinni Abass, and his Iyaloja would grace the event.
Sanusi, it would be recalled, had delivered not only his polling unit but his local government of Ona Ara to Governor ‘Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Makinde’s last-minute reconciliation with Sanusi was one of the things he needed to record a landslide across the state.
Ilaji, as Dotun has become to be popularly known, has become a force to be reckoned with as his philanthropic gesture within and outside Ibadan has made him a go-to person for people, especially politicians.
Speaking on the rationale behind the victory party, Sanusi, who has been receiving visitors in his resorts for Makinde’s reelection, said it was to thank everyone who, in any way or the other, contributed to the victory.
”These people just love it and I must not take it for granted. I called them just a few hours after we decided and they answered. Remember this was how they did for us when we were mobilizing for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. And I told them then that we were not doing it for money. They did it with their hearts. Again, for Governor ‘Seyi Makinde, they didn’t question me when I told them. I am grateful for the kind of love they have shown me. I won’t take it for granted,” he added.
It would be recalled that Makinde, a few days before the election, had parleyed Sanusi to mobilize support for him. PDP led with over 11,816 votes in Ona-Ara where the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate, hails from.
