After hours of the annulment of the Osun gubernatorial election by the tribunal, which sacked the incumbent governor of Osun state, Ademola Adeleke, and declare the former governor, Gbenga Oyetola, as the authentic winner of the Osun poll which took place on July 16.

Justice Tetsea Kume oversaw that INEC did not comply substantially with the constitution and the provisions of the Electoral Act.

He thereafter deducted the over-voting followed from the votes scored by the candidates and declared that Oyetola won the election, having polled 314, 921, while Adeleke’s score came down to 290, 266.

He ordered INEC to withdraw Adeleke’s certificate of return and issue another one to Oyetola who won a majority of the lawful votes.

Some members of the ruling party in Osun state, PDP, have come out in large numbers to reject the tribunal judgment against the governor.

The protesters, who carried various placards with several inscriptions, insisted that Adeleke was the winner of the poll.

Some of the inscriptions read, “Tribunal Panel is not fair in their judgment’,

‘Imole has come to stay’, ‘Osun Citizens reject Oyetola’,

‘This is Injustice to Ademola Adeleke’, and ‘In Imole’s mandate, we stand’, among others.
