The Oyo State Environmental Task Force has apprehended eight individuals between last night and the early hours of this morning for violating environmental laws by illegally dumping waste along major roads, medians, and drainage channels within the Ibadan metropolis.

According to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources, the arrests were made during routine night surveillance aimed at curbing the recurring menace of indiscriminate refuse disposal across the city. The offenders are currently facing prosecution for breaching the state’s sanitation regulations.

The Ministry, while commending the Task Force for its vigilance, urged residents to cooperate with enforcement officers, emphasising that the best way to avoid embarrassment is to obey environmental laws. Citizens were reminded that **drainages and road medians are not dumping sites** and were advised to make adequate arrangements for proper waste disposal through accredited waste collectors.

Reaffirming its commitment to a cleaner and healthier environment, the Ministry warned that enforcement will continue across all zones of the state until total compliance is achieved. It further called for collective responsibility, noting that maintaining a clean environment safeguards public health and reflects the pride and discipline of Oyo State citizens.
