As the curtain gradually falls on the 2025/2026 Rotary Year, the Rotaract Club of Oyo Central has celebrated a historic milestone, emerging as one of the most outstanding clubs in Rotaract District 9126, Nigeria.

Under the leadership of its outgoing President, Rtr. Saheed Alabi Agboluaje, the club was honoured with three prestigious awards at the 2026 Rotaract District 9126 Conference, Dinner and Awards Night, held from June 25 to 28, 2026.

The club received the coveted Best Club in District 9126 award based on the District Rotaract Representative’s official visitation assessment, alongside the *Best Club in Basic Education and Literacy* and *Best Club in Vocational Service* awards.

The Best Club Award, regarded as the highest club recognition in the district, reflects outstanding performance across leadership, administration, membership development, impactful community service, and overall club excellence throughout the Rotary year.

Speaking after receiving the awards, Agboluaje described the recognition as a testament to collective service, dedication, and teamwork.

“What started as a shared vision to serve our community with excellence has culminated in one of the most rewarding moments of our administration. These awards belong to every member, mentor, sponsor, partner, volunteer, and supporter who believed in our vision and worked tirelessly to make it a reality,”he said.

Throughout the Rotary year, the club implemented several impactful humanitarian and community development projects across Oyo State.

Among its flagship initiatives was the Peace and Rotaract Awareness Trek and Market Women Support Outreach, during which market women received food items, umbrellas, and financial support while the campaign promoted peaceful coexistence and increased awareness of Rotary’s humanitarian ideals.

The club also carried out a Care Kit Outreach at the Medium Security Custodian Centre, Abolongo, where 326 inmates received hygiene kits aimed at promoting dignity, sanitation, and improved well-being.

In the area of education, the club strengthened access to quality learning through its Basic Education and Literacy Project, donating school uniforms, school bags, and sandals to pupils in selected public primary schools across Oyo.

Healthcare remained another major priority. The club organised a Free Medical Outreach for elderly members of the community, providing free medical consultations, health screenings, laboratory tests, and essential medications.

Its commitment to saving lives was further demonstrated through a Blood Donation Drive*, organised in collaboration with the National Blood Service Commission, the Leo Club of Oyo Alaafin, and other partners to help strengthen blood bank reserves.

The administration also invested significantly in Vocational Service and Member Empowerment, supporting entrepreneurs within the club while celebrating notable career milestones, including four members who secured Federal Government appointments during the Rotary year.

In addition, the club extended support to expectant mothers through a *Maternal and Child Health Initiative*, paying antenatal clinic fees and providing pregnancy care kits to improve maternal healthcare outcomes.

Beyond the club’s achievements, members of the Rotaract Club of Oyo Central also received individual honours at the district awards ceremony.

Immediate Past President, *Rtr. Ajisope Asisat Adeola*, received the *Most Supportive Female Rotaractor in District 9126 Award* as well as the *National Merit Award* from Rotaract Nigeria. Similarly, *Rtr. Faleye Aminat* was honoured with a *Meritorious Service Award* for her outstanding leadership as Chairperson of the District Learning Seminar hosted in Oyo.

Agboluaje attributed the club’s success to the unwavering commitment of its Board of Directors, project delivery committee led by *Rtr. Azeez Sultanat Abidemi*, club members, alumni, mentors, volunteers, and numerous partners whose support strengthened the club’s impact throughout the year.

He particularly acknowledged the *AWA Foundation*, led by *Alhaji Ademola Wasiu Alli*, the club’s Grand Sponsor for the 2025/2026 Rotary Year, alongside the Leo Club of Oyo Alaafin, the Rotaract Club of Atiba University Oyo, the Rotaract Club of Federal School of Survey Oyo, and other organisations and individuals who partnered with the club in delivering its projects.

Reflecting on the completion of his tenure, Agboluaje said the experience had reinforced his belief that true leadership is measured not by positions held but by lives touched and communities transformed.

As he prepares to hand over the mantle of leadership, the outgoing president expressed confidence that the Rotaract Club of Oyo Central would continue to build on its legacy of excellence, service, and sustainable community impact in the years ahead.
