Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde was absent at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential campaign rally in Ibadan, the state capital on Thursday.
The rally which took place at the ancient Mapo Hall attracted the national leadership of the party as well as some state governors.
The PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and his running, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa were accompanied by Governors Aminu Tambuwal (Sokoto); Ademola Adeleke (Osun); Godwin Obaseki (Edo) and Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom).
Makinde is a member of the G-5 demanding the resignation of the PDP national chairman, Senator Iyorchia Ayu as a condition to support Atiku’s presidential ambition, since the PDP presidential primary took place last year, there have been several meetings to unite the big wings of the party who have refused to support the party’s presidential candidate with the belief that the candidacy shouldn’t have gone to the north but south.
