Some people in the community have shown their disappointment moment of some of the past administrations over the failure to fix the road despite the promises made.
Residents of Ayegun Oleyo, Odo Ona Elewe area of Oluyole local government, Oyo state, have commended the decision of Dr. Yunus Akintunde, who is the Oyo central senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to tar a kilometer of the poor part of the road.
Akintunde made the promise when he visited the community, whose road is about five kilometers, over the weekend.
While speaking to journalists, residents praised the decision of the former commissioner for works and transports under the administration of late former governor Abiola Ajimobi, saying the efforts will bring great relief to them.

Some leaders in the area, Mr. Victor Arowolo regretted that successive administrations had been promising to assist in tarring the state road but nothing had been done.
Also, Mrs. Oluwakemi Oni said the promise to reconstruct the road before the election showed that Akintunde has a large heart to help people despite not being in power yet. This has shown that he will do more when elected. This is someone we should all support.
Responding to the development, the general chairman of the residents association, Mr. Tunji Alabi who appreciated the politician said the condition of the road had made many residents relocate from the area.
While assuring Akintunde of the support of the residents, Alabi advised politicians to emulate the attitude of the Oyo-born politician who volunteered to put smiles on the faces of the people even though the election had not been conducted.
With a grateful heart, the Baale of Ayegun Oleyo community, Alhaji Olajide, applauded the gesture saying it was indeed a prayer answered.
Speaking, the APC chieftain who sympathized with the people of the affected areas after seeing the condition of the five-kilometer road, appreciated them for their perseverance promising that when elected, the people of Oyo central will enjoy a dividend of true democracy.
“Don’t nurse any fear. Before I threw my hat in the ring to represent you, I have been assisting people and communities. This isn’t the first time. I didn’t have ambition when I started. I am just grateful I had the opportunity of assisting and I did it and grateful for the mileage it has given us. I am not contesting because of anything but to better the lots of our people. So be rest assured that I am coming to do more,” he added
