A level 300 law student at Bayero University, Kano whose name is Abdullahi Adebayo Abdulrauf, who hails from Ọ̀yọ́ town in Oyo State shines at a National Moot Competition together with his team. The competition which was tagged “Shehu Wada, SAN Business Rescue and Insolvency Championship” organized by Attorneys Chambers, AAhmad Bello University, Zaria in collaboration with Strive Forum for Law Discussion and Development.

The Competition had four faculties of law as participants, of which were Umaru Musa Yar’Adua University, Katsina, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and Bayero University, Kano which he and his team represented. Abdullahi’s team won against the team from Usmanu Danfodiyo University to qualify for the final competition in June 2024.
The facts of the moot bothered on Business Rescue and Insolvency Law aspects of Company Law as provided and newly introduced by the Company And Allied Matters Act, 2020. The moot competition was the first of that nature ever to be organized in Nigeria. During the competing, the team was given the task of preparing Appellant and Respondent Briefs of Arguments and other Court of Appeal processes

The modality of drafting canvassing arguments for both Appellant and Respondent in a Case exposes him and his team to the rigour of Legal Research, Legal Reasoning and Legal Analysis. It was like asking them to establish a building on one hand and destroying the building on the side by themselves. It brings out the Lawyering Skills in them.
On the whole, Abdullahi and his team, with whom he was representing his faculty, the faculty of law, Bayero University Kano recorded a resounding success after the Finals Competition in their favour, it was held between them and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria on the 20th day July, 2024 where they won the Award of First Runner Up.
